Q & A

Question: Can I use HCG if I'm pregnant?

Answer: While pregnant, your body will naturally produce HCG and it is not necessary to take additional HCG.  During pregnancy it is unsafe to use any type of diet plan unless it is specifically created for pregnant women.  It is, however, always a good idea to change to a healthier diet while pregnant.  A fetus needs certain nutrients for proper development.

Taking HCG for weight loss requires a very low calorie diet, which would be unhealthy for a pregnant woman.  During pregnancy, you need to eat more than 500 calories a day.

Question: What if any are the side effects or dangers of taking the HCG?

Answer: Consult your doctor before starting to use HCG or any other weight loss program.

Though there are no real dangers using HCG, you may experience side effects.  You may feel some muscle weakness towards the end of the diet if you don't normally exercise.  You may want to take a potassium supplement to avoid muscle cramping.  You may also feel light headed or weak on occasion from lowered blood sugar.  Keeping fruit on hand can help because of the natural sugars in it.  You can use the HCG diet if you have Type 2 diabetes, though, as long as your doctor approves it.

HCG can also increase your risk of gallstones due to the lack of fat in the diet.  The risk is greater for those who are prone to gallstones.  You should take HCG only under the care of a physician if you have had a heart attack.

Question: Does the HCG diet really work?

Answer:  Eating a very low calorie diet may sound difficult since many diets require a lower calorie diet, and many people continue to feel hungry. This is the reason so many people fail at diets. What is different with HCG is that it is a hormone that sends messages a part of the brain, called the hypothalamus, to release the surplus fat stores in your body to burn as fuel. This causes you to feel a lot less hungry, so sticking to a very low calorie diet is much easier.

Question: What fruits can I eat on the HCG diet?

Answer: During the VLCD phase you can only eat apples, oranges, strawberries and grapefruit.

Question: How many HCG drops should I take?

Answer: You must take 60 drops a day to equal the same amount as the standard 125IU. The drops come with a dropper 60 drops equal 3.0 ml. It is recommended that you take smaller doses throughout the day. Such as 0.5ml six times a day or 0.6ml five times a day.
